^31 (A)And after they had mocked Him, they took the cloak off Him and put His own garments back on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.

³⁹ And those passing by were ^[a]speaking abusively to Him, ^(A)shaking their heads, ⁴⁰ and saying, “^(B)You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! ^(C)If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.” ⁴¹ In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking Him and saying, ⁴² “^(D)He saved others; ^[b]He cannot save Himself! ^(E)He is the King of Israel; let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him. ^43 (F)He has trusted in God; let God rescue Him now, if He ^[c]takes pleasure in Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

²⁹ Those passing by were ^[a]hurling abuse at Him, ^(A)shaking their heads and saying, “Ha! You who are going to ^(B)destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, ³⁰ save Yourself by coming down from the cross!” ³¹ In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking Him among themselves and saying, “^(C)He saved others; ^[b]He cannot save Himself! ³² Let this Christ, ^(D)the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe!” ^(E)Those who were crucified with Him were also insulting Him.

³⁵ And the people stood by, watching. And even the ^(A)rulers were sneering at Him, saying, “He saved others; ^(B)let Him save Himself if this is the ^[a]Christ of God, His Chosen One.” ³⁶ The soldiers also ridiculed Him, coming up to Him, ^(C)offering Him sour wine, ³⁷ and saying, “^(D)If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!” ³⁸ Now there was also an inscription above Him, “^(E)THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

^39 (F)One of the criminals who were hanged there was ^[b]hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the ^[c]Christ? ^(G)Save Yourself and us!”
